FAQ

❓ Before you start, you might be wondering:

Will this work for my level?

The Speaking Gym is built for B1–B2 learners, people who already know the basics of English but freeze when they have to speak. If you can read this page comfortably, you're at the right level. However, if you are C1-C2 (advanced level) and still struggle with speaking naturally, you will benefit from the 7 day speaking gym too

If you're an absolute beginner, this gym will be too fast. If you're already advanced and fluent, you'll still get value from the frameworks and reps, but the chunks on Day 1 will feel familiar.

How much time do I need each day?

About 15 minutes. That's it. The whole gym is built around the idea that short, daily reps beat long, occasional sessions. Most people do their day over a coffee in the morning or on the way home in the evening.

Do I need a microphone or fancy equipment?

No. Your phone is enough. You'll need:

  • 📱 Your phone (for recording yourself)
  • 🤫 A quiet space where you can speak out loud
  • 🎧 Headphones (helpful for shadowing on Day 2, but optional)

That's it.

What if I'm shy about speaking out loud?

Almost everyone is, at first. The gym is designed so you only ever record yourself, listen back, and decide whether to share anything. Nobody else hears your reps unless you choose. By Day 3 or 4, most people stop noticing the discomfort. By Day 7, they look for excuses to record.

Do I need to do it in 7 days?

No. The 7-day structure is the recommended path because each day builds on the one before. But the moment you join, the whole gym is yours; you can take 7 days, 14 days, or do it on weekends only. Most people do better when they keep the daily rhythm, but the choice is yours.

Will I be fluent after 7 days?

No, and anyone who promises that is selling you a fantasy. What you will have after 7 days is something more useful: a mouth that doesn't freeze. The chunks, the rhythm, the frameworks, they stay with you. The gym is the on-ramp; you'll keep getting better long after Day 7.

Can I do this on my phone?

Yes. Everything works on phone, computer, or tablet. The recording feature is a tiny bit easier on a computer, but plenty of users do the whole gym on their phone, including uploading recordings.

Do I need a Notion account?

You'll get a Notion template you can copy into your own free Notion account. If you've never used Notion before, the Start Here page walks you through setup in 2 minutes. It's simpler than it sounds.
